Marking

Carla Mann & Jennifer Wright

October 9th-25th

Join dancer/choreographer/filmmaker Carla Mann and composer/musician/multi-disciplinary artist Jennifer Wright for MARKING. An intimate series of three artistic events that combine community discussion, hands-on workshops, and interactive performances.

MARKING explores the ways we seek to make marks in the world.

These evenings will use the elements of breath, light, and time to explore aspects of experience and our own creative capacities. Holding space for those whose experiences and voices are often dismissed, and centering especially all those who identify as women, we will delve into the wonder and joy inherent in acts of exploration, creation, and collaboration.

MARKING: Breath

The massive volume of Building 5 will be transformed into a visual wonderland: dancers below, the airspace above enlivened with levitating musical instruments, and everywhere in between filled with moving containers of breath.

Dates: Friday, 10/9: 7 pm & Saturday 10/10: 7 pm

MARKING: Light

Layers of light, shadow, projection, and sound bathe Building 5’s vaulted interior. We’ll explore

hidden and interior intentions and meanings as we create and move through illuminated landscapes.

Dates: Friday, 10/16: 7 pm & Saturday 10/17: 7 pm

MARKING: Time

Making visible the invisible traces that each of us leave behind us as we move in the world, ink,

salt, and paper become tools of exploration, reflection, connection, and world-building.

Dates: Friday, 10/23: 7 pm & Sunday 10/25: 7 pm
