Open Call for Proposals

Deadline is midnight PST, September 29, 2025

We are now accepting submissions for our highly anticipated 2026 Program—an opportunity for bold, site-specific artistic exploration within one of the Northwest’s most dynamic creative spaces.

We invite proposals from individual artists and collaborative teams who are driven, self-directed, and deeply curious. We are especially interested in artists from diverse backgrounds whose work engages meaningfully with space, scale, and the physical and conceptual environment of Building 5.

Building 5 is a 5,000-square-foot hub for creativity, collaboration, and community located in Portland, Oregon’s Northwest industrial area. Bathed in natural light and framed by soaring ceilings, this extraordinary space is designed to inspire bold ideas and ambitious work. We are deeply committed to uplifting artists across disciplines and career stages—offering not only opportunities to exhibit and present their work, but also a platform for visibility, experimentation, and growth.

This program is designed for those who are eager to push the boundaries of their practice while fostering public engagement. All selected artists must include a public-facing component in their proposal—whether through artist talks, exhibition hours or other forms of community interaction.

Artist(s) will receive:

  • Two to five week program duration

  • 24 hour access to our 5,000 sf space

  • Opportunity to engage and interact with Portland Art Community

  • Access to our lights, audio, and projection equipment

  • $1,000 Dengerink Creative Stipend for October only

Considerations for:

  • Site-specific, large scale, interactive installation, sculpture, new media, or performance

  • Current affairs, thought-provoking subjects and new mediums

  • Collaborations or collaborative teams and interdisciplinary collectives

We are accepting multiple proposals for durations of two to five weeks, scheduled between March and November 2026. Please indicate your preferred month(s).
